Integrated pest management strategies should focus exclusively on preventing real fungal, bacterial, or viral diseases, leaving the natural microflora undisturbed.
Maintaining a healthy crop through proper agronomic practices is sufficient to ensure a diverse and stable phyllosphere community, including methylotrophs.
Field scouting for diseases should ignore these organisms, as they do not constitute a threat to the success of agricultural production or plant vitality.
