Internally, the fungus causes significant white rot, breaking down the lignin and cellulose in the wood. Over time, the affected areas of the trunk or branches show clear signs of structural deterioration and decay.

As the infection progresses, the bark on the affected sections may begin to crack, dry out, and eventually slough off, exposing the rotting wood underneath.

Leaves on infected branches often display symptoms of chlorosis and may drop prematurely due to the disruption of the plant's vascular system, leading to overall tree decline.
