The plant necessitates highly acidic soil conditions with a pH level ranging from 4.5 to 5.5. Gardeners must incorporate generous amounts of peat moss or pine bark into the substrate to maintain the necessary acidity and drainage characteristics required by this species.

Light requirements are strict, as the plant prefers filtered light or partial shade. Direct exposure to intense afternoon sun often leads to leaf scorch, whereas excessive shade can limit the plant's ability to produce flowers and subsequently develop fruits.
