The crop demands well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. It exhibits poor tolerance to waterlogging, necessitating the selection of slopes or elevated areas with high permeability for plantation establishment to ensure the long-term health of the root system.
Climate requirements include a stable temperature range between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius. The species does not survive frost or extended dry spells, requiring a microclimate that maintains high humidity throughout the vegetative cycle to sustain photosynthesis and resin production.
For successful cultivation, adequate sunlight is essential for the tree to reach its full productive potential. While young plants benefit from some shelter in the understory, mature trees require full exposure to achieve the canopy volume necessary for commercial yields.
