Mortonia

Mortonia is a genus of evergreen shrubs belonging to the Celastraceae family. These plants are native to the arid and semi-arid regions of southwestern North America, including parts of Mexico and the United States.

As a specialized xerophyte, the Mortonia plant is highly adapted to environments with limited rainfall. It features a robust root system and specialized leaf structures that help the plant conserve moisture during extreme heat.
