The plant thrives in well-drained, loamy or stony soils rich in organic matter. It exhibits remarkable drought tolerance and frost resistance, making it suitable for conservation efforts in mountainous arid zones.
Optimal growth requires a sunny location. Insufficient light leads to sparse foliage and significantly lower fruit yield. The species is well-adapted to the high diurnal temperature variations common in its native high-altitude habitats.
Adequate soil moisture during the first half of the growing season is essential for vigorous development. While the plant can withstand dry spells, supplemental irrigation during fruit development noticeably increases yield quantity.
Young Hissar Hawthorn plants grow slowly and require diligent weeding in their root zone to avoid competition for nutrients. It prefers neutral to slightly alkaline soil types and does not tolerate waterlogged conditions.
