Carlemannia tetragona

Description

Growing requirements

The plant has high requirements for both air and soil humidity. The optimal substrate consists of well-drained, fertile forest soil with a high humus content and a slightly acidic pH level.

This culture is shade-tolerant and sensitive to direct sunlight, which can easily damage the leaves. The temperature must be maintained within a tropical optimum range to avoid stress from sharp fluctuations.

Consistent moisture is a critical growth factor, as the root system is highly sensitive to the prolonged drying of the growing medium. In controlled greenhouse environments, air humidity levels should be strictly managed, ideally between 70% and 80%.

To promote healthy vegetative growth, organic fertilization is recommended during the peak growing season. Nitrogen-based fertilizers should be used cautiously to prevent weak, etiolated stem growth.

  • Temperature optimum: +20…+25°C
  • Watering: Regular and moderate
  • Light: Diffused light or partial shade
  • Soil: Humus-rich loams
