Description
Growing requirements
Anisosciadium (Anisosciadium isosciadium) belongs to the Apiaceae family. This is an herbaceous plant adapted to growth in arid climatic conditions.
Geographically, the plant is mainly distributed in the Middle East, including regions of Iraq and Iran. It is a typical representative of xerophytic flora, capable of surviving in conditions of severe moisture deficit and high temperatures.
Botanically, the crop is characterized by a well-developed root system, which allows it to efficiently utilize scarce rainfall. The stems are upright, often branched, and the leaves have the dissected shape characteristic of the umbrella family.
The soil preferences for this species include sandy, loamy-sand, or rocky substrates. The plant requires excellent drainage, as water stagnation in the root zone is detrimental to this biological species.
The plant is not a commercial agricultural crop on an industrial scale, however, it is of interest for breeding programs as a donor of drought-resistance genes for other species in the Apiaceae family.
